Abstract

A series of metal incorporated M-MCM-41 (M = Mo, and/or V) mesoporous materials was synthesized and characterized. The performance of the metal containing MCM-41 catalysts was studied for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane in a fixed-bed micro-reactor. The results showed higher activity in case of V-MCM-4 1 catalyst showed higher activity than that of Mo-MCM-41 catalysts at 450°-600°C at 1 atm. At 575°C, propane conversion was ∼ 20% with corresponding propylene selectivity of ∼ 30%. H2 and CO were produced during catalytic runs under the conditions of catalyst performance evaluation. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 20th Annual Saudi-Japan Symposium on Catalysts in Petroleum Refining and Petrochemicals (Dharan, Saudi Arabia 12/5-6/2010).
