Abstract

Catalysts play an important role in producing valuable products from crude oil. A discussion covers an overview of catalyst management at Saudi Aramco's refineries; selection protocols stated in the firm's Engineering Standard, SAES-A-207; use of catalysts in basic refining processes, e.g., naphtha reforming, FCC, hydrocracking/desulfurization, isomerization, and hydrogen production; measuring catalyst performance; and case example.
