Abstract
A unified approach to model reduction and control analysis of weakly coupled discrete systems is presented. Mode separation is expressed in terms of inequalities relating norms of system submatrices. Two approaches are considered: two-time scale and modal aggregation, and their equivalence is pointed out. State feedback design is implemented using independent gain matrices.
