Abstract

An optimization algorithm for solving mixed integer problems was applied on an ideal two-product reactive distillation column for fuel optimization. A simulation model of ideal reactive distillation column is used for simulation step of the optimization problem. The process was optimized for number of trays in the stripping reactive and rectifying section along with pressure in the column and the two feed locations. The optimization resulted in savings ≤ 6% in terms of fuel cost maintaining the same products concentrations.
