Abstract

In this article, a new application of Transient Search Optimization (TSO) is proposed for estimating the Hybrid Active Power Filter (HAPF) parameters. HAPF is a sophisticated type of harmonic filter that incorporates the advantages of both active and passive filters. Better quality concerns, reduced complexity, superior efficiency, and lower costs are significant criteria that must be met in terms of quality of electricity. There is a passive filter and an active control filter in the framework adopted. The passive power filter (PPF) with a high-power rating is utilized to filter the low order harmonic current. An active power filter (APF) is utilized to filter other high order harmonics with a low power rating. The cost of the HAPF is also considerably lower than that of the APF. TSO achieves better results than the other recent algorithms. The study takes into consideration the widely used HAPF topography for model validation. In a system containing non-linear loads and non-linear source, a clear specific function representative of both total voltage harmonic distortion (VTHD) and total current harmonic distortion (ITHD) is established which helps to decrease the harmonic pollution (HP). The findings of the TSO algorithm are compatible with the associated previous analysis and with other excellent optimization techniques.
