Abstract
Water and power systems are critical infrastructures with enormous investment costs. In this paper, we demonstrate the opportunities and benefits of jointly analyzing these two infrastructures by modeling their interaction under a game-theoretic framework. Precisely, we model a demand response game between a power service provider and a water desalination plant. We show that the game admits an equilibrium and provide conditions for its uniqueness. Also, via illustrative examples, we quantify the social welfare gap and demonstrate the additional flexibility brought to the power system due to the incentives given to the water desalination plant to adjust their power demand while maintaining their water requirements.
