Abstract
The heat transfer behavior of fluid flow through packed tube and channel has an important impact on the design and operation of catalytic reactors. In this context, the wall-to-fluid heat transfer coefficient (hw) and effective radial thermal conductivity (ker) have been determined for a packed bed with 4.5<de/dp<7.5 in the region of 200<Re<1450. Two values of Nu based on the bulk as well as the extrapolated fluid temperature at the wall have been determined and compared.
