Ohmic Loss in Metal-Clad Graded-Index Optical Waveguides

Abstract

The propagation characteristics of a metal-clad waveguide with a parabolic layer arc obtained for the truncated and extended layer models. An approximate solution for guided modes is developed which gives insight into how waveguide and material parameters influence modal losses.
