Abstract

A mathematical model was developed for the sorption and diffusion of binary mixtures of gases in microporous adsorbents by considering nonlinearity of adsorption isotherm and concentration dependence of diffusivity. The initial uptake ratio was found to decrease with decrease in Biot number, the uptake ratio is independent of pressure when the diffusivities are constant; however, the ratio is greatly affected by pressure when the concentration dependence of diffusivity is taken into account.
