Abstract

This paper presents an overview of FCC technology and operation trends for maximizing the production of light olefins. One of the emerging technologies in this regard is the high-severity fluid catalytic cracking (HS-FCC) process that enhances light olefins production under high severity reaction conditions. The process has been investigated at a small-scale pilot plant (0.2 bbl/day) with a down-flow reactor. The features of the HS-FCC process are outlined in this paper.
