Abstract

The crystal structure of chlorofluoromethane was determined at different temperatures using indexing and Rietveld refinement of neutron powder profiles. It was found that the structure has close packing in several directions and there are weak hydrogen bonds forming zigzag chains. It was also found that the solid phase of chlorofluoromethane has only phase with a space group which is non-centrosymmetric.
