Abstract

Nanocrystalline materials are of interest for a variety of applications. This talk describes the design and synthesis of metallic, metal oxide and semiconducting nanocrystals of controlled size and morphology. The nanocrystalline building blocks are used to create multifunctional nanocomposites and heterodimers with unique properties. They are successfully tailored towards energy applications, such as biomass conversion, catalytic combustion, and fuel cells.
