Abstract

A new multislot multiband printed monopole antenna is presented for mobile phone applications. The multiband feature can be achieved by the proper design of the several slots employed in the phone ground plan. Five slots with symmetrical shape are cut at the edge of the ground plane to generate two wide bands of frequencies. The two wide bands of the antenna cover the GSM900, UMTS, 2.4-GHz WLAN bands and a part of the GSM850 band. Full-wave numerical simulations have been performed to show good radiation characteristic of the antenna.
