Abstract

Experimental data for the sorption of ethylene-cyclopropane mixtures in Linde 5A zeolite are discussed and interpreted in relation to a simple statistical model isotherm expression. The model provides a good representation of the data at sorbate concentrations less than 50 to 60% of saturation, but there are significant deviations at higher concentrations. As saturation is approached, the shape of the x, y diagram becomes strongly asymmetric, and the simple representation of molecular interaction as due principally to the finite size of the sorbate molecules is no longer adequate to explain the behavior of the system.
