Abstract

In This paper, we propose and evaluate the performance of multi-user scheduling schemes for multi-layered space time block coded systems (MLSTBC). These are MIMO systems that combine spatial multiplexing and transmit diversity. Several scheduling criteria are proposed and compared. That includes the MLSTBC capacity maximizing scheduler, which requires computing the postprocessing channel matrix for all users. The results also show that scheduling based on the Frobenius norm of the MIMO channel performs very close to the maximum MLSTBC capacity scheduler with less computation requirments.
