Abstract

Migration from one platform to another is a mammoth task. This article describes the experiences of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in moving from VM/CMS to UNIX, detailing the reasons for making this change, the problems encountered and drawing practical conclusions that would facilitate such a process.
