Abstract

The geostrophic wind, to which a logarithmic velocity profile is attached, is considered as a fluid flow over a dune. The erosion on the dunes due to this flow field is calculated by using the Exnerian erosion theory. A numerical example is given to present the time rate of change of height of a dune or the movement of a sand dune over time. An explanation of the wave behavior of the movement of sands dunes is also included.
