Abstract
In this paper, conventional and model reference adaptive cruise control systems will be investigated in term of design, modeling and simulation. The physical system structure will be modeled based on one car and two cars, following and preceding (host and leading). The conventional and adaptive systems will be simulated and designed to improve the system performance characteristics. The objective of this work will be focusing on construct the basic model of conventional and adaptive cruise systems as well as their transfer functions, analyze the systems performances and investigate the output response of these models.
