Abstract
Comfort, safety and stability are some of the most essential and critical features of a modern-day vehicles including cars, bus and other transportation. The purpose of this research is to achieve these features by integrating an active suspension system. Modeling and simulation of the proposed system is developed, followed by a prototype model. Results are then compared in a virtual simulation environment for both passive and active suspension system using hydraulic actuators, along with the fabrication of an actual model. The results showed that an active suspension system brings about much needed stability and comfort as it nullifies the effect of jerks to an extent where a conventional passive system cannot help. Use of this mechanism can also be appreciated in an ambulance, as it will enhance the ride quality and reduce the jerks to injured patients.
