Abstract

This work will present a comprehensive performance analysis of the solar PV array configurations under mismatch scenarios. The analysis done so far aims to study the mismatch losses of power in a solar array under irradiations that are not uniform in nature. The irradiance mismatching effects also exhibit many peak power points on current-voltage and power-voltage characteristics and non-linearity because of which various traditional MPPT algorithms are not able to track global peak. The extracted power in the PV array depends on PV array configuration and mismatch scenarios. There are numerous solar array available configurations. The examination is based on making the optimal solar modules configuration in an array to get maximum instantaneous power under mismatch scenarios. The PV array configurations modeling that is considered would be done in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The most optimal configuration will reduce the occurrence of multiple local peaks and avoid having a complex maximum power point tracking algorithm. The additional advantage of this configuration would be a co`st-effective and simple photovoltaic array structure.
