Abstract

This paper presents a miniaturized single layer low profile metasurface (MTS) antenna fed through a Coplanar waveguide (CPW). The metasurface is constituted by 3x4 rectangular loop cells. In a different way to that of the conventional rectangular MTS, the proposed loop unit cell presents a compact size due to its inductive effect. The characteristic mode analysis shows that two orthogonal modes can be excited for circular polarization radiation. Simulated results show an impedance band of 20.8% and a 3dB axial ratio band of 5.1% with a peak realized gain of 8dBi.
