Abstract

The food packaging industry has a huge demand of various sort of packaging materials. One of the famous packaging material is the metal packaging which possess the remarkable tendency to exhibit barrier properties making its extensive use in food industry. The metal packaging is available in various types and can be used as caps or lids for bottles or containers. The important threat associated with the metal packaging is its affinity with other metals and redox reactions which maty lead to several other threats. Due to its strong affinity with food items, the metal packaging are coated for protecting the food from poising and rotting. However, the popularity of metal packaging is due to several advantages due to its lower contribution in pollution, longer shelf life, recyclability etc.
