Abstract

Effective interfacial areas for gas absorption were measured for 1 cm single Fenske helices and porous ceramic cylinders 1. 24 cm long and 0. 55 cm in diameter. Two chemical systems were used, both giving essentially the same interfacial area. The sulphide oxidation system is extremely convenient and the complexity of the reaction does not seem to affect the accuracy.
