Abstract

An optimal control scheme for attitude control of rigid body spacecraft is proposed in this paper. The dynamic optimal control problem is first converted into a nonlinear programming problem (NLP) by Legendre pseudospectral method (LPM) and then this NLP problem is solved. The time as well as energy is optimized for the rigid body spacecraft using LPM. The re-orientation problem of the rigid spacecraft is solved both as a regulation problem and then as a tracking problem. The simulation is carried out using a Matlabc toolbox called DIDO and the simulation results illustrates the desired performances of spacecraft attitude regulation and tracking.
