Abstract
Large signal analysis of a dual parallel Mach-Zehnder (DPMZ)-modulator is presented, and closed-form expressions are obtained for the harmonic and intermodulation performance of the DPMZ-modulator driven by a multisinusoidal input signal. The special case of a driving signal formed of three equal-amplitude carriers is considered in detail, and closed-form expressions are obtained for the conditions required to attain minimum amplitudes of the intermodulation products. The results are compared with previously published results.
