Abstract
In the present study, film-wise condensation is investigated along horizontal tube, in which evaporation takes place on the outside while condensation takes place inside the tube. The former is due to the hotter fluid which is circulating through the tube. In the analysis, the condensing heat transfer problem is examined both experimentally and theoretically. The analysis is extended by introducing a non-condensable gas with the vapor. It is found that non-condensable gas lowers the condensation rate especially at low cooling water rates.
