Abstract
Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) have gained attention due to potential applications for remote health monitoring, and antenna is one of the bottlenecks. In this paper, a low-profile, miniaturized, and semi-flexible dual-band antenna is proposed for WBAN applications. The antenna operates at 2.5 and 5.5 GHz dual-band operation. It features a rectangular patch loaded with an inverse Z-shape slot to generate dual resonance. Initially, a rectangular patch is utilized to operate at the upper band (5.5 GHz) and then the inverse Z-shape slot is introduced to generate a resonance at the lower frequency band (2.5 GHz). Two quarter-circular slots at the corner of the partial ground and two rectangular slots at the lower edge of the patch have been introduced to enhance gain and matching at desired bands, respectively. The antenna demonstrates gains of 3.71 and 7.10 dBi, at 2.52, and 5.52 GHz respectively. By providing an efficient dual-band compact antenna solution, this research fills a gap in the current literature and contributes significantly to the field of wireless communication for healthcare and industrial applications.
