Abstract
The improvement of precision, products and processes offer substantial benefi ts to a wide range of applications from ultraprecision to mass production with higher quality and better reliability. The recent development of ultraprecision machines is reaching subnanometer precision under much specifi ed conditions. The ultrahigh precision machines such as the molecular measuring machine, diamond cutting machines, and very large telescope (VLT) interferometers are designed under very tight specifi cations. Table 1.1 shows a difference between conventional machining and diamond machining requirements.
