Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in sustainability initiatives presents previously unheard-of possibilities for efficiency and creativity in addressing current environmental challenges. This chapter examines the critical role AI technologies play in tackling urgent problems like environmental degradation, resource depletion, and climate change. Businesses and governments can improve their ability to track environmental conditions, manage resources more effectively, and promote sustainable practices in a variety of industries, such as agriculture, transportation, and energy, by utilizing intelligent algorithms, predictive analytics, and smart systems. This chapter also explores the consequences of AI developments and green engineering. AI greatly enhances the benefits of green engineering principles, which promote the design of products and processes to avoid adverse environmental effects. AI, for example, may forecast long-term environmental implications based on present practices and streamline manufacturing processes to cut waste and energy consumption. The conversation emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches that promote ecological integrity while expanding technology capabilities, highlighting joint work between environmental scientists and AI researchers. In addition to making infrastructure more resilient, this collaboration gives communities the ability to adopt creative solutions that are specific to their own environmental problems. As we traverse the nexus between technology and ecological, this chapter ends with a reflection on the ethical concerns and possible obstacles to using AI for sustainability. In order to prevent marginalized populations from falling behind in the shift to a green economy, it emphasizes the significance of fair access to AI tools. To accelerate the transition to a greener society and offer a chance to develop cooperative, data-driven solutions that are advantageous to the earth and its people, sustainability efforts which are incorporated with artificial intelligence (AI) provide an ultimate revolutionary strategy.
