Abstract

Spinel powders Mal 2O 4 (M = Ga and Zn) were prepared by the co-precipitation of aqueous solutions containing corresponding metal, aluminum nitrate, and ammonium carbonate. The NO reduction activities of composite spine! type powders in the Ga 2O 3-Al 2O 3-ZnO (GAZ) system were studied with regard to their high-temperature application as an automotive lean-bum exhaust catalyst. The GAZ system was highly active even at high temperature heat treatment. The GAZ catalyst had no significant deterioration after long-term durability tests, even in wash-coated honeycombs.
