Abstract

The adaptation of solar technology to the technical, environmental and economic constraints of Saudi Arabia is presented in this paper. To reduce the price of flat plate solar collectors and to solve the problems due to the impact of local environmental conditions, the procedure of fabrication and the choice of materials were made on the basis of their physical and thermal properties as well as availability and economics. The procedure given by ASHRAE Standard 93-77 was used for testing the collector.
