Hydrogen production and hydrogen as an energy vector

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

In this chapter, the hydrogen production techniques using water electrolysis are studied and discussed. These techniques include alkaline water electrolyzer, alkaline anion exchange membrane, proton exchange membrane electrolyzer, and solid oxide electrolyzer cell. Moreover, mathematical models of each technique are presented. Hydrogen production by water electrolysis using renewable energy and its potential in 2030 and 2050 are presented. The hydrogen production economy, including levelized cost and hydrogen, is discussed. Finally, the discussion of hydrogen integration with industry and its application toward a sustainable society is investigated.
