Abstract

This paper presents new experimental data on phase behavior of gas hydrates for several binary and ternary mixtures of methane, propane, isobutane and n-butane. The purpose of these experiments was to study the effect of heavier components such as isobutane and n-butane on phase behavior of gas hydrates. The experimental results serve as a basis for evaluating accuracy of models for predicting hydrate phase equilibrium. The second objective was to study the effect of salinity on hydrate equilibria for gas mixtures. The experimental data gathered in this study includes: three phase (Vl//1H) and four phase (VL//1L//2H) equilibrium conditions for mixtures of propane and n-butane at two different salt concentrations.
