HSI control suite: An integrated GUI for operating and acquiring data from DIY push-broom hyperspectral imaging systems

Abstract

The operation of custom-built, push-broom hyperspectral imaging (HSI) systems is frequently hindered by fragmented software workflows that complicate the data acquisition pipeline. To address this, we present the HSI Control Suite, an open-source Python application that provides an integrated graphical user interface (GUI) for the rapid setup and operation of do-it-yourself (DIY) benchtop HSI instruments. The software unifies hardware control, guided system calibration, and synchronized data acquisition, focusing on the production of high-quality, geometrically corrected raw data. It features a real-time corrected live view, interactive analysis tools, and persists data in self-describing HDF5 files. This tool lowers the barrier to entry for HSI research by providing a robust, turn-key solution for generating analysis-ready data.
