Abstract
An optical metropolitan area network employing packet switching and wavelength division multi-accessing is discussed in this article. Two variations are presented. One employs a preassigned TDM scheme in conjunction with WDM. The other also uses TDM but assigns slots on a packet-by-packet basis.
