Abstract

Nature has always supported mankind in providing all sorts of amenities and requirements. It helps in developing the closed cycle in order to maintain the balance between system and the surroundings. From the ancient time, humans have been using different recourses for their lives, such as clays, metals, ceramics, and polymers. With the passage of time and new technological developments, novel innovative materials have been prepared and used; among them, composite has gained much interest in which desired properties were obtained by combining different materials together. Composites provide any beneficial aspects as compared to pure polymer, metal, or ceramics. Hence, composite have been applied in variety of fields. However, in recent era, large numbers of researchers are working in the field of advanced composite material development in order to save the environment from pollution and waste disposal problem. Green composites are playing major role in this regard as they are from natural resource and biodegradable, hence protecting environmental degradation, and they are low cost and give the advantage of recyclability also. Green composites are prepared by reinforcing resin using natural fibers. The natural fibers are obtained either from plants or from animals. This chapter explains different types of plants and animal fiber and naturally obtained polymeric resins used in green composites. The different methods used for the synthesis of green composites were also explained in detail. The application of green composite in different fields is also highlighted.
