Abstract

In this modern era, green biopolymers have acquired momentous consideration as auspicious solutions for sustainable packaging. These biodegradable polymers propose an imperative alternative to synthetic plastic-based polymers that harm the environment and deplete nonrenewable resources. Green biopolymers are obtained from renewable and natural sources and are differentiated by their biodegradability; that is, they disintegrate in the environment into nontoxic byproducts and have fewer impacts on ecosystems than petroplastics. Moreover, green polymer-based materials are nearly as adaptable as conventional plastics; they can be modified into many different forms that offer engineers plenty of inventive choices. Effective green biopolymers also retain tremendous barrier properties and shield packaged foodstuffs from environmental influences such as moisture, oxygen, and UV radiation. Separately, they are a response to the worldwide toward ecofriendly solutions for packaging waste. However, there are some challenges that can limit their application such as cost-effectiveness, scalability, and enhanced mechanical features. Resolving these issues and modifying these materials can offer sustainable pathway toward decreasing plastic effluence and fostering a greener planet.
