Funding Information:
The author was the principal investigator for the three case study locations in this summary paper. The original studies were sponsored by internal grants from Texas A&M University, where the author was a professor in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering in 2014-2020, before rejoining King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (where he served earlier in the 1990s). Currently, there is an emerging interest in Saudi Arabia to explore and develop its vast geothermal potential, especially in regions where sub-recent volcanism favours the occurrence of shallow hydrothermal reservoirs.
