Abstract

In this paper, Integral Proportional (IP) controller is applied for the control of superheated steam temperature (SST) system. The Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used for the tuning of I-P controller. The performance investigation of GA based I-P controller is evaluated on superheated steam system of 500 MW boiler. The GA and conventional Zeigler-Nichols (ZN) method are employed for the tuning of I-P controller. The results obtained from GA and ZN based I-P controller are compared with GA and ZN based Proportional Integral (PI) controller. The results indicate that GA based PI and I-P controllers have better response than Z-N based PI and I-P controllers in respect of settling time, rise time and peak overshoot.
