Abstract

In this paper, we consider the following viscoelastic swelling porous-elastic system {ρzztt-a1zxx-a2uxx+∫0tg(t-s)zxx(x,s)ds=0,in(0,1)×(0,∞),ρuutt-a3uxx-a2zxx=0,in(0,1)×(0,∞),and establish explicit energy decay result with a very general assumption on the behavior of g at infinity; that is g′(t)≤-k(t)H(g(t)),t≥0,where k and H are two functions satisfying some conditions mentioned in the paper. Our result substantially improves earlier related result in the literature.
