Abstract

The world faces mounting energy and environmental challenges. Renewable energy resources are widely regarded as a solution to address these problems. Solar thermal energy is an important form of renewable energy, which can be harnessed through diverse technologies for a wide range of applications. Solar thermal energy can be utilized through simple technologies like solar space heating and solar water heating and by employing more advanced and sophisticated technologies like concentrated solar power (CSP) and solar air conditioning. Solar water heating and CSP are the two most prominent solar thermal technologies experiencing a rapid growth across the world.
