Abstract
Using the bandwidth definition of N. A. Semenov, it is shown that the bandwidth of the modified Goubau line is larger than that of a conventional Goubau line of the same outside diameters of the conductor and dielectric layer and propagating the same mode. The transverse field decay away from the structure, which can be controlled by a suitable airgap choice, promises potential applications for low-loss propagation.
