Abstract

Besides the normal (b) and twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) fluorescence bands, 4-dimethylaminobenzonitrile (DMABN) in β-cyclodextrin aqueous solution exhibits a fluorescence band at around 400-420 nm which has been attributed to self-complexes. This is supported by time-resolved and fluorescence decay results.
