Abstract
An efficient approach for filter design using a large number of coupled microcavities is proposed. The design problem is formulated as a convex optimization problem with a unique global solution. Various filter designs are obtained at both the drop and through ports in a fraction of a second. Our approach is illustrated through a number of examples.
