Abstract
Energy is the ability to perform work and is essential for all living processes. For its technological and cultural advancement, humanity has always relied on the usage of energy. In past few decades, the worldwide need for energy has risen, and most of the population around the globe depend heavily on non-renewable energy sources that includes oil, natural gas, and coal to generate energy. These non-renewable energy sources will soon run out and are environmentally destructive, which create the need for using alternative energy sources. The use of renewable energy resources has become the most significant way through which additional energy may be produced. The most important part of using renewable energy sources is to explore a number of good impacts like decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing global warming. There are different renewable energy (RE) sources that are easily accessible like sun, wind, geothermal, tidal, biofuels etc. Faced with bleak predictions for energy supply and consumption, humanity is mobilizing massive efforts to acquire and grow renewable resources, as well as seek for cleaner, smarter, and more responsible energy generation, transmission, and distribution technologies. The geographic information system (GIS) is a computer application that helps in the understanding of topography and the making of best choices. GIS organizes geospatial information so that if anyone look at a map can quickly find the data they want for a specific purpose or task. GIS can help with RE integration in a variety of ways, including locating possible solar, biomass, and wind power plant sites, assessing RE potential at macro and micro scales using physical modelling, and studying the technical, economic, and social impacts of RE projects. GIS is transforming how we create and transmit energy, as well as how we view our planet's resources.
