Abstract
The reliable application of lithium-ion batteries requires clear manufacturer guidelines on battery storage and operational limitations. This paper analyzes 236 datasheets from 30 lithium-ion battery manufacturers to investigate how companies address low temperature-related information (generally sub-zero Celsius) in their datasheets, including what they include and exclude or potentially present in a misleading manner. The findings show a lack of consistency in the information provided by the manufacturers for both low-temperature storage and operational details. Based on these findings, recommendations for standardization of essential information that should be included in a battery datasheet are provided.
