Abstract

The objective of this technical note is to provide a method based on the “small gain theorem” for estimating the robust dead time for closed-loop stability. The method lends itself to generalization for multivariable systems and also to graphical implementation. Some examples are provided for demonstrating the use of the proposed method and the results obtained are compared to the exact critical values of dead time.
