Abstract
The internal molecular structure of pitches and green cokes can be studied using e.s.r. to measure interactions with iodine. Using room-temperature measurements it was observed that for iodine interacting with a pitch, spin concentrations increase, while for iodine interacting with a green coke, spin concentrations decrease, probably because of an association with conduction electrons.
