Abstract

The corrosion prevention ability of one fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coating and three liquid epoxy paints are currently being studied with long-term corrosion tests at the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT). On the basis of the test results obtained so far the FBE and the coal tar epoxy coatings prevent corrosion effectively even in aggressive environment (concrete containing CaCl "SUB 2" and the test specimens partly immersed in synthetic sea water) and one of the liquid coatings even increased corrosion in some cases.
