Abstract
Thermotolerant bacteria were isolated and identified from recreational thermal springs located along the Jordan Rift Valley. Bacillus spp. were dominant over other Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The optimal growth temperature for the isolated Bacillus spp. was >50°C. Thermotolerant Pseudomonas fluorescens, Plesiomonas shigelloides, Shigella sp.1 and Enterococcus spp. were also isolated.
